Before we proceed to the courses and programmes offered at this university we must discuss briefly about the institution.

The University of Jos is a federal university in Plateau State in Nigeria. The university was established in 1975, before the university was fully established, it started as the University of Ibadan campus in November 1971, today the university has more than ten faculties and all the courses and programmes under each faculty have been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) the government body in charge of regulating universities in Nigeria. This approval means students are assured of receiving a high-quality education that meets national and world standards.

List Of Faculties/Colleges At UNIJOS

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has twelve faculties and a college of health sciences, the college has the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, and Faculty of Dental Sciences. The aim and objectives of this faculties are to prepare students to contribute to society a meaningful leadership engagement

1. Faculty of Veterinary Medicine: In this faculty there are department of Theriogeniology and Production, Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, Veterinary Microbiology and Pathology, Veterinary Parasitology and Entolomology, Veterinary Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology, Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine

2. Faculty of Social Sciences: The Faculty of Social Science has four departments, they are department of Economics, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.

3. Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences: Under the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences we have the following departments; Pharmacognosy and Traditional Medicine, Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmaceutics, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Technology and Industrial Pharmacy

4. Faculty of Natural Sciences: This faculty consists of Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Plant Science and Technology, Remedial Sciences, Science Laboratory Technology, and Zoology department
