Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) is a public university established by the Nigerian Army in 2018 to produce civilian and military personnel with distinctive competence for the transformation of the Nigerian Defence System.

It is located in Biu, Borno State, Nigeria, and it is a research-intensive and innovative institution for technology and innovation.

It offers a variety of courses and programmes across five faculties and one college, covering arts, management, social sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, natural sciences, and military sciences.

The institution is a unique university that aims to become a solution centre for military equipment production in Nigeria and West Africa.

It also strives to promote excellence, ingenuity, creativity, and distinctive competence in intellectual outputs. It has some special features that distinguish it from other universities in Nigeria, such as:

• It is expected to become the first green university in Africa with the planting of 10-15 million trees.
• Every student, lecturer, and worker in NAUB is expected to plant at least 10 trees per year as part of the institution’s green canopy project.
• Admission structure comprises 75% civilian and 25% military and paramilitary.
• It will serve as a production hub for ICT and solar accessories in the North East, Nigeria, and eventually West Africa.
• Students and lecturers are expected to initiate and nurture at least one innovative project into a usable product annually.
• It will hold an annual military/commercial product fair to showcase innovative products by students and lecturers.
• It will regularly attract Nobel prize winners as mentors for students and lecturers alike.
• It will assist the Biu community to become a centre of production and learning.
• It will create a critical mass for military equipment production in Nigeria.
• It is expected to become self-sustaining in the foreseeable future, using internal resources and public-private partnership platforms.
• Security is assured with two military units and other security agencies in Biu. It will use the smart concept to reinforce security.
• It will provide academic chairs to facilitate the employment of talented senior citizens and other Nigerians to meet its mandate on military equipment production.

It is conceived as a world-class university that will provide a conducive teaching and learning environment in Nigeria that will attract high-quality teaching and research staff, together with talented students.

The university has a vision to become a solution centre in technology, research, and development for the promotion of self-reliance, creativity, and innovation in addressing the challenges of the Nigerian Army, the military, and the nation.

The university has a mission to develop highly skilled military and civilian manpower with distinctive competence capable of providing technological solutions to the problems of the Nigerian Army, the military, and the nation.

NAUB has been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the regulatory body for all universities in Nigeria. The NUC has granted NAUB the license to operate as a full-fledged university and to offer courses and programmes leading to the award of degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

It has also been accredited by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the body responsible for the conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) admissions into Nigerian universities.

The university has also been recognized by the Nigerian Army Council, the highest decision-making body of the Nigerian Army.

The Nigerian Army University Biu offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various fields of study. The faculties and programs include;

1. Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences (FAMSS): The aim of NAUB is to produce graduates with skill abd knowledgein humanities, social sciences, and management sciences that are relevant to the needs of the Nigerian Army, the military, and the nation.

2. Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences (FNAS): This faculty comprises of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics departments with the aims of producing graduates with skills and knowledge in basic and applied sciences

3. Faculty of Computing (FCOM): This faculty comprises the departments of Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Systems, Information Technology, and Software Engineering.

4. Faculty of Engineering Technology (FET): This faculty comprises of the departments of Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

5. Faculty of Environmental Sciences (FEVS): This faculty comprises of the departments of Building, Environmental Management, Estate Management, Survey and Geo-Informatics, and Urban and Regional Planning.

List Of NAUB Programmes

1. Undergraduate Programs: NAUB offers undergraduate programme, this programme is divided into five facilities which are; Arts, Management and Social Sciences; Natural and Applied Sciences; Computing; Engineering Technology; and Environmental Sciences. Each faculty has several departments that offer different courses. The duration of this programme is minimum of four years

2. Postgraduate Programs: There are four types of postgraduate programmes at NAUB which are; Master of Science (M.Sc.), Master of Technology (M.Tech.), Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
