The Current Official List Of FUTB Courses & Programmes

The Federal University of Technology Babura, Jigawa State (FUTB) is one of the established federal universities of technology by President Muhammad Buhari’s administration in 2021.

The university is located in Jigawa state, Babura, The university offers undergraduate programmes in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

As of the time of publishing this article, the FUTB has been accredited by the regulatory body for university education in Nigeria which is known as the National Universities Commission (NUC), Apart from accreditation by NUC The university has also established collaborations and partnerships with others reputable institutions, both locally and internationally, to enhance its academic and research excellence.

The university is a conducive learning environment with modern facilities and infrastructure. The university has a well-equipped library, a modern ICT centre, a fully equipped laboratory, and a spacious lecture hall.

The university also has hostels, a cafeteria, a sports complex, and a health centre.

List Of Faculties/Colleges At FUTB

According to the information on the university web, the Federal University of Technology Babura, Jigawa State has the following faculties and departments:

1. Faculty of Engineering: This faculty was established with the aim of producing competent students who are capable of contributing the engineering knowledge gain at FUTB for the development of the nation. This faculty offers programmes in Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

2. Faculty of Science and Technology: The Faculty of Science and Technology offers undergraduate programmes in Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Software Engineering to provide quality education and research in science and technology.

3. Faculty of Agriculture: The purpose of establishing this faculty is to produce graduates who are ready to contribute to the improvement of agricultural productivity and food security.

The 3 faculties discussed are the current faculties at FUTB as of now.

However, the university is planning to introduce more faculties and programmes in the future, such as Management Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Health Sciences.

List Of FUTB Programmes

1. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.): FUTB offers a four-year degree programme in engineering, some of the courses in this faculty include; Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The main purpose of the establishment of this programme is to produce competent and innovative engineers who can contribute to the development of Nigeria and beyond. The admission requirement for this program is a minimum of five credits in relevant subjects at O’level and a minimum score of 140 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

2. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.): Apart from Bachelor of Technology FUTB also offer Bachelor of science degree programmes, this degree programmes is also a four-year degree programme the courses in this programme include science, information and communication technology courses such as; Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. The purpose of establishing this program is to provide quality education and research in science and technology.

FUTB does not offer any postgraduate programmes, such as Master or Ph.D. at the time of publishing this article, although the university is planning to introduce such programmes and once done we will update this article.
