Information Technology is an important part of modern living. It plays a major role in various areas of society, such as education. The IT Scheme of Work for Primary 2 aims to teach the basics of IT to pupils aged 5-6 years.

They will be taught about computer parts, IT devices, and uses. This scheme of work is very important because it will help pupils to learn the necessary skills that they will use in academics and their professional lives in the future.

The scheme of work is divided into three terms. During the first term, the pupils will know how to identify and draw computer parts. This will be an introduction term to the features of computer parts such as monitors, keyboards, system units, printers, etc.

In the second term, the pupils will be able to identify part of IT devices like phones, cameras, and organizers.

In the third term, the pupils will be taught the uses of common IT devices like phones and computers.

The scheme of work learning outcomes are made purposefully to make sure pupils achieve given specificity in each term.

In the first term, pupils will be able to draw a computer showing major parts and describe computer parts. In the second term, pupils will be in a position to describe two common IT devices and mention two parts of common IT devices. In third term pupils will even be able to mention two uses of common IT devices.

The teacher’s and pupils’ activities have been outlined to achieve these objectives for each term.

For example, in the first term, the teacher should guide pupils to draw a computer showing major parts and the pupils should touch and identify major computer parts, e.g., monitor, system unit, keyboard, etc.

Similarly, in the second term, the teacher should identify parts of common IT devices while the pupils should mention parts of common IT devices.

First Term Objectives

Week 2-6: Identify and draw computer parts

Week 8-10: Describe the features of computer parts e.g.
Monitor: (i.e. rectangular shape and has a screen and buttons) keyboard, system Unit and Printer etc.

Second Term Objectives

Week 2-10: Identify parts of IT devices

Third Term Objectives

Week 2-10: State uses of Common IT devices
