The Social Studies Scheme of Work for Primary 2 is designed for pupils with 5-6 years of age. The scheme of work has been created to help pupils acquire knowledge and skills that can help them in their daily lives. The scheme of work is divided into three terms, and each term has specific objectives, learning outcomes, and teacher and pupil activities.
During the first term, pupils will learn about the scope of social studies, identify different physical environments, list types of food in Nigerian culture, mention the importance of eating together, list the nutrients in the foods we eat, and recognize greetings as a way of showing respect.

At the end of the second term, pupils should be able to mention some of the importance of greeting in their community, mention ways of keeping their environment clean, explain the meaning of accidents, mention ways of preventing accidents in school/home, and explain the meaning of drugs.
During the third term, pupils will learn about drug abuse, harmful substances, and ways of preventing the intake of harmful substances.
At the end of the third term, pupils should be able to mention the categories of drugs, explain the meaning of drug abuse, mention the dangers of drug abuse, mention ways of preventing drug abuse, explain the meaning of harmful substances, give examples of harmful substances, and mention ways of preventing intake of harmful substances
