The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) was established in 1983 by the then Nigerian government to promote Science, Engineering, and Technology.
The university started academic activities with the former Government Teachers’ College, Bosso, which is now known as the institution Bosso Campus. The university later acquired 10,650 hectares of land at Gidan-Kwano for its main campus.
The university has 10 schools and also has several centres, including the Centre for Preliminary and Extra Mural Studies, the Centre of Excellence in Disaster Risk Management and Developmental Studies, the Centre for Climate Change and Freshwater Resources, the Centre for Human Settlements and Urban Development, the Directorate of Research and Development, and Africa Centre of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety.
