Security Education Scheme of Work for Primary 3 Pupils is meant to impart knowledge concerning security to children aged 7 – 8 years.

The objective of the scheme of work is to educate the children on the essence of security, how they can detect possible security breaches or crimes, and the best ways to keep themselves and their community safe.

At the end of this scheme of work, the pupils should be able to detect the various aspects of security, and a criminal act, and decide to avoid crime.

In the first term, the students will learn the elements of security and confidentiality. Integrity and authenticity are available since the quart includes human life. In the following week, they will also learn about empathy.

The mid-term break will allow the students to reflect on what they have learned so far. Pupils will also partner with critical departments in the eighth week to give the broad aspect of security. In week ten, pupils will learn about audio awareness materials in security.

The term will close with revision and examination in weeks twelve and thirteen.

During the second term, in the first week, students will be taught how to identify criminal behaviour, and causes of crime, for example, poverty, parental neglect, and drug abuse.

Learners will also be taught the factors that lead to one acting criminally and preventive measures for common criminal behaviours.

In the seventh week which is the mid-term break, students will have an examination. In the eight weeks, students will be taught how examination malpractice is common criminal behaviour.

During the ninth and tenth weeks, students will be taught how to create, implement, and monitor one’s national security and preventive measures against theft. In the twelfth and thirteen weeks. Revision and examination.

In the third term, the pupils will learn how to avoid criminal behaviour and anti-social behaviour. Some of the behaviours are aggressive behaviour, violence, and racism. They will also learn how to avoid sexual offences and road accidents.

The pupil will have a mid-term break. In week eight, the pupils will learn to avoid criminal behaviour such as theft and gangs. They will also learn to avoid peer pressure.

In week ten, the pupil will be taught about a good family life, which entails the characteristics of a good family and the advantages of a good family life. The term will end with a revision and examination in weeks twelve and thirteen.
