The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) is a federal university located in Abuja the capital of Nigeria. The university was established in 1988, the university has grown to become one of the leading institution in Nigeria

The aim of establishing the was discussed in the early 1980s, with the goal of providing a better quality education to the people of the Federal Capital Territory ( Abuja) and its environs.

After a long discussion the university was officially established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in January 1988, with academic activities commencing in April of the same year it was established.

The university started with five faculties including; Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Social Science, Faculty of Management Science, and Faculty of Education when it was established in 1988, since then the university has been expanded with more Facilities like Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Health Sciences were established

The University is committed to providing a conducive learning environment for its students no wonder the university campus is located in Gwagwalada, and equipped with lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, and sports facilities.

The academic programs at the UNIABUJA is rigorous and comprehensive so as to be in line with international standards. The university runs undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various faculties and department

The University is also good at research and community engagement initiatives. The university has a number of research centers and institutes that conduct research in areas of health, agriculture, environmental studies, and social sciences.

Since establishment of University of Abuja the university has produced produced many notable alumni who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. Some of this Alumni include;

UNIABUJA runs undergraduate programmes in agriculture, arts, education, engineering, environmental science, law, management sciences, science, and social sciences. Within these faculties students can choose any course of his/her choice.

Some of the undergraduate programmes include Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degrees in area like Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Relationships, Law, Political science, sociology, and more. These programmes listed above usually take at least four years though some course takes more than four years to complete.

Apart from the undergraduate degree the university also offers a number of postgraduate programmes at the master’s and doctoral levels for students willing to further their academics and further more in their area of specialization.

Apart from the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, UNIABUJA also runs some other initiatives programmes I’m order to support student learning and development.

Some the programmes include; student exchange programmes, study abroad opportunities, internships, and community service projects that allow students to engage with others. Apart from these the university also provides career counseling, mentoring, and support services to help students achieve their academic pursue
