KDUMS is the first and only university in Nigeria named after a sitting governor, His Excellency, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State. It is the second federal university of medical sciences in Nigeria after the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State .
KDUMS is situated in Uburu, a beautiful and peaceful town in Ohaozara Local Government Area situated in Ebonyi State, the Southeast geo-political zone of Nigeria.
The university has a favourable and up-to-the-minute learning, research, and creativity environment teeming with learning, state-of-the-art equipment, and facilities of the library, laboratory, ICT centre, auditorium, hostel, and clinic.

List Of Faculties/Colleges At KDUMS
KDUMS has four faculties that offer various courses and programmes in medical sciences. The faculties are:
1. Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences: The faculty is primarily concerned with the clinical and surgical aspects of medicine like medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry, radiology and community medicine. The faculty offers a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery as well as postgraduate programs in different specialties
2. Faculty of Clinical Sciences: This faculty covers the clinical and surgical aspects of medicine, such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry, radiology and community medicine. The faculty offers a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery (MBBS), as well as postgraduate programmes in various specialties¹.
3. Faculty of Allied Health Sciences: This faculty of the allied health sciences includes nursing and medical laboratory sciences, dentistry and biomedical engineering. In addition to the postgraduate programs in various fields, the faculty also provides a bachelor’s degree in nursing science, medical laboratory science, dentistry and biomedical engineering
4. Faculty of Computer Science: This is a computer faculty that focuses on the computational and technological aspects of health sciences, including computer science, information technology, and health sciences. The school also offers a bachelor’s degree in computer science and various postgraduate programs.

List Of KDUMS Programmes
1. Bachelor degree programmes: Ten of the available bachelor’s degree programmes at the KDUMS include the following: Medicine and Surgery, Pharmacy, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Dentistry and Dental Surgery, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Industrial Chemistry, Industrial Mathematics, Industrial Physics, Computer Science, and Biotechnology.
The general objective of these programmes is to inculcate in the students the theoretical and practical aspects of the science discipline they chose at the undergraduate level. In addition, the programmes prepare the students for professional practice or further studies at the postgraduate level.
2. Master’s degree programmes: KDUMS does not have any master’s degree programme yet. However, this is one of the formats that the university plans to introduce, in its mission to become a center of excellence in health sciences in Nigeria and beyond.
