The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State (FUNAAB) was one of the first two universities of Agriculture in Nigeria established in 1988.
Currently, there are three universities of Agriculture in Nigeria, the other two are located in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State and Umudike in Abia State
The institution started academic activities from its temporary Campus of Abeokuta Grammar School, Isale-Igbein before moving to its permanent site in 1997.
FUNAAB started its academic programmes with five colleges namely; the College of Agricultural Management, Rural Development and Studies, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production, College of Environmental Resources Management, College of Natural Sciences, College of Plant Science and Crop Production.
As one of the best universities of Agriculture in Africa, the university has been approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run 179 academic programmes, 56 Doctorate programmes, 57 Master’s degree programmes, 22 Postgraduate diploma programmes and 45 undergraduate programmes.
