Week 1-2: Paper Crafts

1. Content: 1. Meaning of paper crafts. 2. Steps in making paper crafts. 3. Materials used for paper crafts. Skills: Making paper crafts.

Teach meaning with examples like cards. Show steps slow. Kids fold and cut to make shapes.

2. Performance Objectives: Pupils should be able to: 1. explain the meaning of paper crafts; 2. state the steps in making paper crafts; 3. identify the materials used for paper crafts; 4. make paper crafts.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: Leads discussion on meaning of paper crafts. Shows video on materials. Demonstrates cutting and assembling. The teacher talks meanings, plays video for items, and shows how to cut and put together.

ii. Students Activities: Discuss in groups the meaning of paper crafts. Watch video to identify materials. Use scissors to cut outlines of shapes and colour. Use paper and adhesive to make 2-D and simple 3-D objects (e.g., box, cone). Kids talk ideas, spot from video, cut and color, make objects for fun.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: White and colourful paper; Scissors; Adhesive; Water; Bowl; Sample of paper craft; Safety scissors for children; Non-toxic adhesives (paper gum/glues, etc.). Paper for base, safety scissors to cut safe. Adhesives stick parts, samples inspire.

Week 3-4: Lines

1. Content: 1. Meaning of lines. 2. Types of lines. Skills: 1. Using lines to create effects; 2. Creating simple art works with lines.

Show lines in room, like on desks. Talk types, let kids draw effects.

2. Performance Objectives: Pupils should be able to: 1. describe lines; 2. recognize types of lines; 3. identify different types of lines used to create objects in their surroundings; 4. use lines to create effects; 5. create simple art works with lines.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: Leads group discussion on types of lines. Shows diagrams and video on creating artwork with lines. The teacher starts talks on types, uses diagrams and video for examples.

ii. Students Activities: Discuss different types of lines in diagrams and environment. Watch video on creating artwork using lines. Use lines to draw simple artworks. Kids talk types seen, watch for ideas, draw their own.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Pencils; White paper; Sharpener; Diagrams illustrating types of lines; Ruler; Classroom and school environment; White board; White board marker.

Diagrams show clear, ruler for straight. Environment ties to life.

Week 5-6: Shapes and Texture

1. Content: 1. Meaning and types of shapes and textures. Skills: 1. Creating shapes; 2. Making different textures; 3. Creating different shapes with unique textures; 4. Using shapes to form compositions; 5. Using textures to form patterns.

Show shapes like balls for round. Touch rough smooth items. Kids make and mix.

2. Performance Objectives: Pupils should be able to: 1. describe shapes; 2. identify types of shapes; 3. create shapes; 4. make different textures; 5. create different shapes with unique textures; 6. use shapes to form compositions; 7. use textures to form patterns.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: Shows cut-outs of shapes and surfaces. Leads group discussion on smooth/rough. Guides forming shapes with materials. The teacher uses cut-outs to show, talks smooth rough, helps form with items.

ii. Students Activities: Describe shapes in simple words (e.g., round, four sides). Participate in group discussion to identify smooth and rough surfaces. Use sticks, straws, or clay to form basic shapes in groups. Individually draw simple shapes. Kids describe easy, talk surfaces, form together, draw alone.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Objects with these shapes: rectangle, triangle, circle, oval, star, square etc.; Paper; Pencil; Surfaces with rough and smooth textures.

Week 7: Mid-Term Break

Conduct mid-term test on weeks 1 to 6. Include questions on crafts and shapes. This reinforces learning.

Week 8: Art Materials and Tools

1. Content: 1. Art tools; 2. Art materials; 3. Uses of art materials and tools. Skills: Using basic art materials and tools to create artwork.

List tools like brushes. Show uses. Kids use to make art.

2. Performance Objectives: Pupils should be able to: 1. identify the different art materials and tools; 2. explain the uses of basic art materials and tools; 3. use basic art materials and tools to create artwork.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: Leads brainstorming on materials and tools. Guides drawing and colouring. Facilitates group creation of artwork. The teacher starts ideas flow, shows drawing, helps group make.

ii. Students Activities: Brainstorm in groups to identify and describe uses. Draw and colour simple objects. Use different materials and tools to create artwork in groups. Kids think uses, draw color, make together.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Pencil; Paper; Crayon; Eraser; Colour pencils; Poster colours; sharpener; Brushes; Pallets / containers to mix colours; Scissors; Ruler.

Week 9-10: Culture

1. Content: 1. Meaning of culture. 2. Elements of culture (norms, values symbols, language, etc). 3. Types of culture: material, non-material.

Talk culture with stories from home. Show elements like clothes. Kids perform simple acts.

2. Performance Objectives: Pupils should be able to: 1. state the meaning of culture; 2. identify the elements of culture; 3. mention types of culture.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: Leads class discussion on meaning and elements. Shows video on culture. Guides simple cultural performance. The teacher talks meanings, plays video, helps perform.

ii. Students Activities: Participate in discussion to describe meaning of culture and elements. Watch video and point out material and non-material culture. Present a simple aspect of cultural performance. Kids join talks, spot from video, show simple.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Cultural Artifacts; Audio Visual resource (laptop, speaker and a projector or a Smart Board); Traditional songs.

Week 11: Revision

Revise term lessons. Practice skills, discuss key points. Ready for exam.

Week 12: Examination

Begin term exam. Test on tools and culture.

Week 13: Examination, Marking & Vacation

Finish exams, mark, record. Vacation after.
