Week 1-2: Exploring Our Environment
1. Content (Knowledge and Skill): Knowledge: 1. Things in and around the classroom, e.g. chairs, tables, books, pen etc. 2. Things in and around the school e.g. flowers, flag, birds, etc. 3. Things in and around the home e.g. goat, bed, cock plate etc. Skills: 1. Observing and identifying things in the environment.
To cover this, start with a walk around the classroom. Point out items and ask kids to name them. Use stories about home to connect.
2. Performance Objectives: 1. observe and identify things in and around the classroom; 2. describe things in and around the school; 3. observe and identify things in and around the home.
These build teamwork and tech awareness. Kids learn to value others’ ideas. It prepares them for real-world group tasks.
3. Learning Activities: This is what the teacher and the students will do during the lesson
i. Teacher Activities: Guide pupils to participate in nature walk to observe and identify things in and around the school. Organize groups to identify things in and around the classroom. Instruct pupils to observe and identify things in their homes. Show video clips of things in and around the classroom, school and home.
Do this step by step. First, lead the walk safely. Then, form small groups for discussion.

Use chairs and tables to show examples. Charts help visual learners. Play videos to spark interest.
To foster a successful lesson, hold objects up for kids to touch. Use charts for group matching games. Videos can wrap up with questions.
Week 3-4: Explore other Parts of the Surrounding: Roads
1. Content (Knowledge and Skill: Knowledge: 1. Roads: · Roads within and outside the school · Walking along the road · Crossing the road · Zebra crossing. Skills: 1. Identifying types of roads traffic light and their various signs. 2. Observing and obeying traffic light. 3. Demonstrating how to properly cross the road.
To cover this, use role play for crossing roads. Explain signs with stories. Make it fun with games.
2. Performance Objectives: 1. identify types of roads around the school and roads outside the school; 2. list different colours of traffic light; 3. walk along and cross the road safely.
3. Learning Activities: This is what the teacher and the students will do during the lesson
i. Teacher Activities: Guide pupils to safely walk along and cross the road. Organize groups to name different colours of traffic light. Lead observation of traffic light.
Do safety demo first. Use groups for color naming.
ii. Students Activities: Safely walk along and cross the road. In groups, name different colours of traffic light. Participate in observing traffic light.
Kids practice crossing in pairs. Share color meanings.
4. Teaching and Learning Resources: · Posters and charts of road traffic signs and common sources of water · Video clips of children crossing the road safely.
Use posters for pointing games. Videos show correct ways. For success, set up a mock road in class. Videos reinforce rules.
Week 5-8: Exploring other parts of the surroundings: Air, soil and water
1. Content (Knowledge and Skill: Knowledge: 1.Other things in their surroundings: · Soil · Air · Water 2. Common properties of air e.g. air occupies space. 3. Common sources of water. Skills: 1. Demonstrating existence of air. 2. Identifying types of roads traffic light and their various signs. 3. Observing and obeying traffic light. 4. Demonstrating how to properly cross the road. 5. Creating air current.
To cover this, use experiments like blowing balloons. Talk about water sources with pictures. Make it hands-on.
2. Performance Objectives: 1. identify other things in the surroundings; 2. demonstrate that air exist; 3. create air current; 4. identify the common properties of air; 5. identify common sources of water.
These encourage creativity in experiments. Environmental awareness grows. Group work builds feedback skills.
3. Learning Activities: This is what the teacher and the students will do during the lesson
i. Teacher Activities: Guide pupils to observe and identify soil, air and water as other components of the surroundings. Lead touching and feeling soil in the playground. Instruct inflating balloons to demonstrate that air occupies space.
Organize groups to create air current using mouth and paper fan. Teach singing and reciting a poem on water. Show posters, charts and video clips on uses and sources of water, road traffic signs and children using the road safely.
ii. Students Activities: Observe and identify soil, air and water as other components of the surroundings. Touch and feel soil in the playground. Inflate balloons to demonstrate that air occupies space.

Week 7: Mid-Term Break
Conduct mid term test from week 1 to 6. Make questions on environment and roads. Use multiple choice for ease. Include drawing tasks.
Week 9-10: Colour Identification
1. Content (Knowledge and Skill: Knowledge: 1.Names of colours. 2.Colours of things around us. 3.Road traffic light colours. 4.Colours of road markings.
Skills: 1.Identifying different colours, of road markings and traffic light. 2.Sorting things according to colours. 3.Drawing and colouring road traffic light.
To cover this, use color games. Link to traffic lights. Make it interactive with sorting.
2. Performance Objectives: 1.identify different colours by name; 2.collect materials of different colours; 3.identify the colours of traffic lights; 4.state the meaning of the colours of a road traffic light; 5.identify road markings and name their colours; 6.draw and colour road traffic light.
3. Learning Activities: This is what the teacher and the students will do during the lesson
i. Teacher Activities: Guide pupils to work together in group and use colour charts to identify colours. Instruct collecting materials in their surroundings and sort them according to colours. Lead observation and identification of the colours of road traffic light.

Week 11: Revision
Revise all the lessons and prepare your pupils for the exam.
Go over topics from week 1 to 10. Use games and quizzes. Focus on weak areas.
Week 12: Examination
The exam for the term should start.
Use questions on objectives. Include practical parts like identifying colors.
Week 13: Examination, Marking & Vacation
Examination should be concluded together with marking and recording then vacation follows once all have been achieved.
