Week 1: Food preservation

1. Content: Knowledge: Meaning of food preservation; Methods of food preservation (drying, smoking, salting, refrigeration); Importance of food preservation (ensure food safety, prevent food burned illness, reduce food waste). Skills: Identifying methods of food preservation.

2. Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: 1. explain the meaning of food preservation; 2. mention the methods of food preservation; 3. identify of food preservation.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: The teacher facilitates whole class and group discussions, The teacher shows video clips.

ii. Learning Activities: The learners participate in whole on the meaning of food preservation, The learners participate in small group discussion methods of food preservation, The learners watch video clip on the importance of food preservation as they participate in whole class discussion accordingly.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Video clips on methods; Real object (different types of raw food items) for demo; Posters/pictures/charts explaining preservation.

Week 2: Contact sports (Part 1)

1. Content: Knowledge: Meaning of contact sports; Examples of contact sports (wrestling, judo); Benefits of contact sports. Skills: Demonstrating skills for the performance of contact sports.

2. Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: 1. explain the meaning of contact sports; 2. identify contact and sports; 3. discuss the benefits contact and sports.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: The teacher facilitates discussions and demonstrations.

ii. Learning Activities: The learners participate in whole class discussion on the meaning of contact sports, The learners participate in whole class discussion on examples of contact sports, The learners brainstorm in groups benefits of contact sports.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Gymnasium for practice; Ring for wrestling; Judo mat for safety; Sports wear for participants; Weighing scale for checks.

Week 3: Contact sports (Part 2)

1. Content: Knowledge: Basic skills and techniques in contact sports (wrestling offensive and defensive skills, judo offensive and defensive skills); Safety precautions in contact sports. Skills: Demonstrating skills for the performance of contact sports.

2. Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: 4. perform basic skills and techniques in contact sports while observing safety precautions.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: The teacher guides individual demonstrations and discussions on safety.

ii. Learning Activities: The learners demonstrate individually offensive and defensive skills in wrestling, The learners demonstrate individually offensive and defensive skills in judo, The learners participate in whole discussion on safety precautions in contact sports.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Gymnasium for practice; Ring for wrestling; Judo mat for safety; Sports wear for participants; Weighing scale for checks.

Week 4: Non-contact sports (Part 1)

1. Content: Knowledge: Meaning of non-contact sports; Examples of non-contact sports (gymnastics, swimming); Benefits of non-contact sports. Skills: Performing non-contact sports.

2. Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: 1. explain the meaning of non-contact sports; 2. identify non-contact sports; 3. discuss the benefits of non-contact sports.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: The teacher facilitates discussions.

ii. Learning Activities: The learners participate in whole class discussion on the meaning of non-contact sports, The learners participate in whole class discussion on examples of non-contact sports, The learners brainstorm in groups benefits of non-contact sports.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Gymnasium for gymnastics; Ring for equipment; Sports wear for comfort; Swimming pool for practice; Swimming trunk for swimmers.

Week 5: Non-contact sports (Part 2)

1. Content: Knowledge: Basic skills and techniques in non-contact sports (gymnastics head stand and hand stand, swimming front crawl and breast stroke); Safety precautions in non-contact sports. Skills: Performing non-contact sports.

2. Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: 4. perform basic skills and techniques in non-contact sports while observing safety precautions.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: The teacher guides individual demonstrations and safety discussions.

ii. Learning Activities: The learners demonstrate individually basic skills of head stand and hand stand in gymnastics, The learners demonstrate individually basic skills of front crawl and breast stroke in swimming, The learners participate in whole discussion on safety precautions in non-contact sports.

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Gymnasium for gymnastics; Ring for equipment; Sports wear for comfort; Swimming pool for practice; Swimming trunk for swimmers.

Week 6: Long jump (Part 1)

1. Content: Knowledge: Basic skills and techniques in long jump (approach run, take off, flight). Skills: Applying techniques in long jump; Officiating skills in long jump.

2. Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: 1. perform basic skills and techniques in long jump correctly (focus on approach run, take off, flight).

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: The teacher shows video clips and guides warm-up/cool-down, The teacher facilitates discussions.

ii. Learning Activities: The learners watch and discuss video clips on basic skills and techniques in long jump, The learners participate in whole class warm up exercise to put body in tune, The learners demonstrate individually the basic skills and techniques in long jump (part 1).

4. Teaching and Learning Resources: Long jump pitch for practice; Take-off board for takeoff; Measuring tape for distance; Whistle for signals; Sports wear for athletes; Flags for marking.

Week 7: Mid-Term Break

Mid term test should be conducted the test should be from week 1 to 6.

Week 8: Long jump (Part 2)

1. Content: Knowledge: Basic skills and techniques in long jump (landing, recovery); Officiating in long jump. Skills: Applying techniques in long jump; Officiating skills in long jump.

2. Performance Objectives: Students should be able to: 1. perform basic skills and techniques in long jump correctly (focus on landing, recovery); 2. officiate in long jump.

3. Learning Activities:

i. Teacher Activities: The teacher guides demonstrations and officiating practice.

ii. Learning Activities: The learners demonstrate individually the basic skills and techniques in long jump (part 2), The learners participate in whole class cool down activities, The learners participate in individual demonstration of the skills of officiating in long jump.

Week 9: High jump (Part 1)

Week 11: Revision

Revised all the lessons and prepare your pupils for the exam.

Week 12: Examination

The exam for the term should start.

Week 13: Examination, Marking & Vacation

Examination should be concluded together with marking and recording then vacation follows once all have been achieved.
